The Los Angeles Times Magazine visits RED Studios Hollywood this month for a piece called 'The RED Revolution'.
This studio was one of the M's in the original MGM," Schilowitz tells me, beaming.
They cover a brief history of RED -- "things weren't always smiles and Soderbergh" -- and chart how a garage-shop in Orange County got on Hollywood's radar. Says Schilowitz in the article:
"...if you didn't know who we were after District 9, you weren't paying attention."
And Albert Hughes, director of The Book of Eli, adds:
"For me it's the ease of use. By the end of the day, I'm looking at the dailies with effects. And the image quality is beautiful. The game has changed, and it's due to RED. They've definitely put a fire under the ass of this industry."
They wrap up with a quick run-through of current projects being shot on RED, but we'll let you read all that for yourself.
