Earlier this year, cinematographer Santosh Sivan, A.S.C., was presented with the Padma Shri award for his accomplishments in Indian cinema. The Padma Shri is the fourth highest award given to an Indian citizen and is bestowed directly by the Government of India.

Sivan transitioned to shooting on RED cameras while he was filming Rangrezz. He enjoyed working with them so much that he decided to continue shooting on RED and is currently shooting his next feature, Anjaan, on an EPIC-M RED DRAGON (CARBON FIBER). Sivan regards RED as a leader in cinema, stating that:

"the camera speaks for itself. I know that for a fact because I get feedback from so many people from all over the country."

Sivan recently acknowledged that as the film industry in India has continued to flourish, the relationship between cinematographers and RED has continued to propagate:

"It's also quite obvious that the kind of support system that RED provides the country is amazing—it can only go upwards."

A founding member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers, Sivan has been awarded as Best Cinematographer from India's National Film Awards on four separate occasions and was also the first Cinematographer in Asia Pacific to receive A.S.C. membership. RED congratulates Santosh on receiving such a prestigious achievement that highlights a prolific career in film.
