Light Iron announces the first REDUSER 4K Portrait Contest as part of the Reduser NAB 2012 Party in Las Vegas. The contest will give RED shooters the opportunity to create content and compete for exhibition space and prizes at the NAB Party. The contest will showcase RED content demonstrating the viability of global 4K acquisition and delivery creating a "living art gallery" atmosphere.

Entries must contain content captured on a RED ONE, RED EPIC, or SCARLET cameras and edited on Adobe Premiere Pro. The maximum length is 4 minutes including credits, no dialogue or sync sound is allowed. Submissions should exemplify the impact of 4K imagery and support Reduser Party event theme "THE WORLD [IN 4K]."

4K Portrait Competition

PURPOSE:

Demonstrate viability of global 4K acquisition & distribution Showcase quality content from the Reduser Community Create a "living art gallery" atmosphere at the Reduser party

PARTICIPANT RULES:

Content captured on a RED One, EPIC, or Scarlet cameras Edited on Adobe Premiere Pro (submission must include your Premiere Pro project file) Maximum length of 4 minutes including credits (submissions over 4 minutes will not be considered) No dialogue or sync sound Submissions should exemplify the impact of 4K imagery and support Reduser Party event theme "THE WORLD [IN 4K]" Cleared music track can be included as sound source Content should be for suitable for all-ages viewing

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

All participants are required to submit the below components on an unencrypted hard drive with an eSata connection in order to be considered for the competition:

1. Portraits must be finished in the Rec709 standard and submitted in 4K resolution (4096x2160 or 4096x2304 are acceptable) 2. Portrait files must be provided in 3 ways: - delivered as 4K DPX, 4K Uncompressed Quicktime or 4K ProRes - audio must be delivered as separate stems either in WAV or AIFF format in stereo channels 1 & 2 - proxy version delivered in H.264 format (1280x720) with data rates between 3 megabits per second and 8 megabits per second 3. Portraits must submit their Adobe Premiere Pro offline project file 4. Entrants must also submit an executed submission form (available on official Reduser NAB 2012 Party website)

VOTING PROCESS:

RED Founder Jim Jannard will determine the top 10 submissions based on judging criteria and will choose the ultimate winner.

COMPETITION WINNERS:

Top 10 finalists will be on display all evening at the Reduser Party, similar to an art gallery layout. Each finalist's work will be part of a "4K kiosk," consisting of a 4K playback device (e.g., cinema server, PCIe card or player) and a 4K viewing device (e.g., 4K projector, 4K monitor or 4K television). The kiosk will list the finalist's information and credits and will be playing all evening long for attendees to experience as they wander the gallery. Event attendees will be able to explore this moving 4K gallery and witness new technology specially designed for the most advanced 4K viewing experience.

During the evening's formal presentation, the top 3 winners will be announced, and all 3 will receive prize baskets worth thousands of dollars. The grand-prize winner will have his/her 4K Portrait projected in front of a captive audience on the main-stage 4K projection screen with the music sound track.

DEADLINE:
