In association with THX and Sharp Electronics, RED is proud to bring you the second annual Sharp Electronics Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition.

Designed by Sharp Electronics to foster the future of 4K content, the Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition is your chance to help create the next generation of digital cinema. Shooters from all over the world are encouraged to create amazing cinematic shorts capturing the essence of 4K through:

"Vibrant colors, hidden details, captivating compositions that showcase beauty and emotion in unique perspectives."

Shooters are welcome to submit their work online—or by mail on a USB 3.0 hard drive or flash drive—from July 21st through September 7th. Submissions must be shot on RED in at least 4K as well as submitted in 4K, and can run for up to 10 minutes. Entrants are encouraged to pick bold subjects and expand their horizons:

"[Entries] will be judged on creativity, technical quality, and the ability to capture detailed, vivid scenes showcasing all of the benefits that high resolution offers."

On September 4th, up to 15 entrants will be chosen as finalists and receive Filmmaker Passes to the 2014 Mill Valley Film Festival in Mill Valley, California, where their compositions will be screened on October 9th during the Sharp Art of Amazing 4K Film Competition. Finalists will also receive a private tour of the Skywalker Ranch—courtesy of THX—and have the chance to win over $50,000 in prizes—including the 6K SCARLET DRAGON Lightweight Collection.
